The Next Challenge – Teaching

I had been offered the chance before but I turned it down. At the time I was busier than I am now but more than that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to teach. I turned it down then knowing second chances are rare. So when I was given a second opportunity to teach I decided to take a chance on it. As I have stated before, you never know until you do, and seeing as how that is good advice I am going to follow it.

With this particular challenge I am going to examine my personal ease in teaching, how I handle any classroom challenges, how comfortable I am with the topic and the overall progress I make as a teacher. The challenge is to see how well I teach, if I like it, and how I progress. As such I will be focusing on me rather than any student or the specific course.

I know, I know, that sounds very egotistical. Well, it is, I mean, didn’t you know it’s all about me? Actually it’s about you. I want to show you what you can do if you just take a chance on life, my experiences just happen to be the vehicle right now. If there is anything you can get out of my personal challenges or any blog I’ve written it’s that nothing happens if we don’t take a chance. But, by taking chances we can explore new things, find new hobbies and interests, meet new people and create new friendships.

Because of the nature of teaching this challenge will last through the end of the year. While my original goal at the beginning of the year was to do 6 challenges I will end the year with 4. That’s ok, life sometimes alters our plans and paths. What that does mean though, is these blogs will change up a bit. Because these last two challenges will be happening simultaneously – the children’s book and teaching – I will be alternating the entries every other week.

Life is exciting right now. I have hanging on my living room wall a frame with the phrase, “Let Life Take You To Unexpected Places.” That is what I am trying to do. Writing a children’s book? Never entered my mind. Teaching? I did not think I would be given the opportunity again but here I am. I am excited to see what happens this semester, and beyond!

Attempt it. Chance it. Try it. Get to It![/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section]
