It should be no epiphany that we have created an envious society. The desire to have what others have is driven into our eyes and ears daily. It comes from all avenues – from “celebrities” and politicians, from media and corporations , from fashion and athletes. Envy is everywhere and its effects are destructive.
Envy is something that can never be satisfied – no matter how much you gain envy always finds someone who has more. The push and drive of envy to gain more and more eventually lead to illicit actions and the chipping away of a life of integrity. In short, envy is a parasite, a cancer that slow but surely kills.
You may ask, “What does envy have to do with pursing passions?” It has everything to do with it. Pursuing passions is not just about doing stuff but it’s also about finding fulfillment, and you cannot ever be fulfilled if you’re longing for something else.
Getting to it is about looking at those pure passions one has and pursuing them. While envy is guided by others’ achievements , fulfillment is guided by self realization. Envy longs for what others have, fulfillment longs for the pure, individual pursuits. Envy looks outward, fulfillment looks inward. Envy corrupts, fulfillment purifies. The envious eye is never satisfied but the fulfilled life is content. Which one do you choose?
Attempt it. Chance it. Try it. Get to It!
