There are several things I have learned as I have lived. Among them is the reality that life is going to come at you, whether you like it or not. So I figure if life is going to happen anyway why should I be passive toward it. Why not choose to live a life worth living, why not choose a purposeful life.
I’m headed to Nepal in five weeks for a fourteen day missions trip. We will be trekking to the base camp of Annapurna, sharing the gospel and giving medical help along the way. The above picture is some of our team on our practice hike. I’m excited about going but also a little apprehensive.
Most people with MS are affected by the heat, I on the other hand am affected by the cold. My feet feel constantly numb and one of my toes becomes highly sensitive to anything touching it. So why then Nepal you may ask. Actually, I originally was planning to go to Tanzania but that door got closed – Nepal was the door to open. With that door being open I decided to walk through it, even if it means discomfort.
Not everyone will go on a missions trip to Nepal or some foreign country – that is my choice of a purposeful life. However, everyone has the chance to choose a life of meaning. Look at the doors, find which ones are open, which ones are healthy, which ones are destructive, which ones are your passions, and then after evaluating it all set it in your mind and heart to pursue them – always purposefully choosing a purposeful life.
Attempt it. Chance it. Try it. Get to It!
