The well was 10 feet deep and the snail was at the bottom. The snail could climb up 3 feet during the day but would fall back 2 feet during the night. The question is how many days does it take for the snail to get out? (If you want the answer see below). It is an intriguing question not just because it causes one to think but it inadvertently presents a real life scenario. Many have worked hard to get out of their circumstances only to have those circumstances pull them backwards. For every 3 forward moves circumstances pull back 2 moves.
How many times have we felt like the snail. We work hard, keep ourselves out of trouble, try to minimize how many stupid thing we do but we still get pulled back. For me a lot of the setbacks have been financial, which is especially aggravating. Coming from a background where beans and noodles was dinner money has always been a prevalent issue for me. So when I work hard trying to pursue a better life and setbacks happen that cost money I have gotten quite frustrated over the years. I have had numerous vehicles that have failed me, some even totaled after hitting deer or the random cow. There goes money. I have had medical issues over the years that while not serious still required doctors and hospitals. There goes money. I still continued to push forward though, and eventually I was able to buy my first house. But while I was under contract my car had major engine problems that cast just under $5,000. There goes money. Once I finally moved into my house, which was a new construction, I have had heating and air conditioning problems. There goes money. For every 3 moves forward I fall back 2.
This is not to say I have not been blessed along the way. I absolutely have been. I will never, ever say I am where I am at solely because of what I have done. Others have helped me along the way. When I have had financial problems my family has been there to help me out. I will always recognize this fact and am forever thankful.
Yet, even though I have support to help me out when life pulls me back 2 spaces I still move back 2 spaces. It is aggravating but moving forward 3 and falling back 2 is life. Some among us may not have that issue. Some will move forward 3 and then be pushed forward another 2 by others. Some have an advantage in life while others do not. For those of you who have had an overall fortunate life I do not begrudge you but I simply want you to realize it be ever thankful for it. For the rest of us who seem to be spinning our wheels, working hard to just to keep things the same I say keep working. Just like the snail, you may feel like you will never get out of the well. You may fall backwards during the night after a hard day’s work but one thing is for certain, you wil never get out of the well if you do not try at all.
Many of us no doubt have felt like the snail- with everything we work toward we just cannot seem to get ahead. Yet, like the snail if we keep working, keep plugging, keep churning, eventually we will eventually work our way toward the top, see the sunlight and as we reach the top opening we will feel the breeze and take in the air of success. We may move forward 3 spaces in life only to have life pull us back 2 spaces, yet we will never quit pursuing our goals. It may be snails pace but we got this – let’s do it!
Attempt it. Chance it. Try it. Get to It![/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section style=”margin: 0px; padding: 45px 0px; “][cs_row style=”margin: 0px auto; padding: 0px; ” inner_container=”true”][cs_column style=”padding: 0px; ” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″][x_custom_headline level=”h3″ looks_like=”h3″ accent=”false”]The Snail in the Well Problem Solved![/x_custom_headline][x_image type=”none” src=”https://gettoitmovement.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/snail-problem.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section]
