History Maker or Stock Clerk?

I have had the privilege of working different jobs with different types of people. I have worked in retail, in fast food, in textile factories, in call centers, professional jobs, even a business that raised rodents for university studies. I have dealt with people of various backgrounds, from various cultures and countries, and from various socio-economic backgrounds. No matter the background I saw two sets of people – those with goals and those without.

I have found that people with goals, whether small or grandiose, have a better sense of self worth, a better outlook on life, and a better overall disposition. It’s not to say people without goals are all depressed and suicidal but a person with a goal has the intangibles of success that a person with no goals does not have.

Not all goals lead to being a CEO of a fortune 500 company. Sometimes they do but sometimes they lead to a promotion working the bilingual line at a call center. Sometimes goals lead to being the guy all the girls want to dance with at a wedding, or being the house your friends want to go to for dinner. But whether your goals lead you to being the richest person in the world or to being the person people ask to take their family photos, goals pursued and sometimes accomplished lead to self satisfaction. And that is the difference between being merely a stock clerk or a history maker of your life’s story.

Attempt it. Chance it. Try it. Get to It!

So true!! I never wish for grandiose things. Just a feeling of being content and helpful: ).
