I had a great uncle who used to say he knew he could do this or that, so there was not point in doing it. As much as I love my family that is utter nonsense. Imagine the engineers at NASA in the 60s saying, “We know we can go to the moon so there’s no point in wasting money and time on it.” Or the Wright brothers using the same logic with flying, or Henry Ford and the assembly line, Beethoven and composing, Socrates and philosophizing, Rembrandt and painting. The list goes on indefinitely.
My uncle isn’t the only person I’ve met that had that sentiment. Unfortunately there are many who use that excuse to not try something. Whether it’s fear of failure or simply lack of interest the end result is the same – nothing. And nothing accomplished, nothing gained, is nothing worth bragging about.
Have you ever used that logic to not try something? Was it fear of failure or did you have no interest in trying it. If you have no interest that’s fine, just be honest with yourself about it. But if don’t try because you’re afraid to fail then you’ll never have the chance to succeed. Whether it’s failure or success how can you know unless you try. You don’t know until you do, so get out there and do it.
Attempt it. Chance it. Try it. Get to It!
